Columba

Columba is a Southern Hemisphere constellation otherwise known as the Dove. It was introduced around 1612 by Petrus Plancius (Wikipedia).Columba remains one of the 88 modern constellations defined by the International Astronomical Union (Wikipedia).

Columba (abbrev. = Col; genitive = Columbae) covers 270 square degrees or 0.66% of the celestial sphere making it the 54th largest constellation. It contains 68 stars brighter than apparent magnitude 6.5, the brightest star being Phact.
